Jack Daniels had a pop-up store in SF a few weeks ago and I stumbled across them one random weekday. I remember drinking Jack and Dew when I was in college, ah, the old days. Yes, sounds strange, but it was a Southern thing. A stadium cup of Mt. Dew and a flask of Jack "someone" snuck in. Tastes kind of like a punchy lemonade and Diet Dew helped take some of the sugar edge off. Don't knock it till you've tried it! Anyway, memories aside, this place had some small bites including this jalapeño corn bread for $1 a square so I couldn't pass it up. I know some local catering company made these and it was all right. Might have been better heated with butter, but then again, what isn't.

The Museum of Ice Cream nears opening and general tix went on sale Friday. They are $38!! If I liked ice cream I could get a multiple actual pints for that amount.
Belden Alley is getting a new eat/drink spot called Toy Soldier and they plan to be open till 4:30am for some late night eats. An alternative food spot for late night drunks. Martika would be proud (that's for you 80's peeps).
Doughp makes a play to be your new favorite cookie dough guilty pleasure.
Blue Bottle Coffee sold a majority stake to Nestle. Of course, twitter and hipsters heads exploded but don't fret SF coffee drinkers, there are still plenty of other artisan cafe au lait makers in town unless you just can't give up your drip, now with a side of waxy chocolate. Plus anyone who didn't see something like this coming obviously hasn't been paying attention to their Starbucks like expansions.
If you need a local fix, there is still Reveille who are opening their third location in lower Haight.
And if that's not enough coffee news, Illy just opened a coffee university!
Not like I eat there (anymore) but you betta' check yo' fries at McD's next time.
For those in or near Mission Bay, Casey's Pizza has finally moved from just food truck to a new brick and mortar locale. You can never have too many pizza spots, the SO always says.
Chinese fine dining? Eight Tables at ChinaLive is gonna make it happen.
South Park Cafe says au revoir after 20 years though by choice not a rent increase this time.
